Dr. Rod Hall
Distinguished Service | 2022
For more than 20 years, the Oklahoma Pork Council Distinguished Service Award has been reserved for remarkable industry and government partners who champion pork production through their influential leadership. The recently announced 2022 Distinguished Service Award recipient, Dr. Rod Hall, upholds that caliber of devoted service in his impactful role as Oklahoma's State Veterinarian.
Dr. Hall was raised on dairy farm in Stonewall. He first studied at East Central University in Ada before graduating from the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine in 1977. Dr. Hall then worked as an associate veterinarian at a mixed animal practice in Alva. He returned to southern Oklahoma a few years later with his wife, Catherine, where he owned and operated the Tishomingo Animal Clinic for 28 years before joining Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (ODAFF) in 2006 as director of the state's cattle program. In 2011, Dr. Hall was selected as our State Veterinarian under then-Secretary of Agriculture Jim Reese. Because of his hard work and talent, Dr. Hall's tenure has continued under current Secretary of Agriculture Blayne Arthur.
Beyond his service to the state, Dr. Hall is an active member of Generations Church in Norman where he plays in the band, and he remains involved with various civic organizations and charities. He enjoys spending time with his grandchildren: Ainsley, Maddox, Sawyer, and Joseph, when he and Catherine are not touring the country on their beloved motorcycles.
Dr. Hall remains a steadfast supporter of Oklahoma's pork industry as he works to keep Oklahoma's herds and flocks safe from disease.
